Hardy Sintrix Technology Fly Rods

Proaxis Saltwater Rods - Four Piece The Proaxis ranges of 1 and 4 section fly rods have been designed and developed by Hardy in conjunction with some of the worlds finest saltwater guides and anglers. Our development team, led by five times Tarpon Gold Cup Grand Champion, Andy Mill, have pushed Hardy’s new Sintrix technology to the absolute limit - and the end result is staggering in both performance and durability. The SINTRIX fly rods are now Hardy’s preeminent rod series. The saltwater Sintrix models are being called the Proaxis series and will be released in March 2011, while the freshwater models will fall into the Zenith series and will become available in January 2011. Each is built with Hardy’s new proprietary SINTRIX material. SINTRIX uses 3M’s Silica Matrix Resin technology in combination with Hardy’s own unique formulation, and the results have been extensively field tested over the past 18 months. Hardy said that their, “team of fishing pros from the Florida Keys to Montana has hailed the rods as truly innovative and exceptional fishing and casting tools.” The SINTRIX material allowed the design team to build a series of rods that combines the best attributes of the modern reserve-power, fast-action fly rods with the more technical requirements of tracking and tippet protection — and a taper that shifts the load to the butt when you need to lay into a fish. These fast-action rods are loaded with cutting edge features, like lightweight saltwater-safe hardware, titanium recoil guides and, of course, Hardy’s revolutionary Sintrix material. Proaxis rods are lighter, stronger, more impact resistant and capable of withstanding much higher loads than standard graphite fly rods. So, with less chance of damage, you can cast further, fish longer and fight harder when pursuing big saltwater species. |
Proaxis 1 - Section Fly$655.00 – $695.00Proaxis 1 Section rods have been designed and developed to offer the ultimate rod for the professional saltwater fly angler. The one section design provides a perfect match for the extreme challenges and pressures of saltwater fishing. Designed and manufactured with Sintrix (the latest in silica reinforced matrix resins), these rods can give up to 60% increase in compressive strength - and when combined with the one section design improves power transfer and removes the worry of a joint working loose in the heat of battle. The improved weight distribution further enhances the superb balance Proaxis range. Range from 8’ 10” eight weight - 8’ 10” 12 weight

What Is SINTRIX Technology?
SINTRIX material provides rods which are 60% stronger, up to 30% lighter and with hugely improved impact resistance over conventional carbon fibre. Initially the new technology will be used in Hardy fly rods but eventually SINTRIX will also be used in Carp, Coarse and Sea ranges within the Greys and Chub brands.
SINTRIX is an enhanced fortified matrix resin which supports and bolsters the carbon fibres in a rod blank to withstand a far higher degree of bending and loading than ever before. Through technology, exclusive to Hardy & Greys Ltd, specially treated silica nano spheres are blended into a SINTRIX™ resin. Thousands of the nano spheres surround every individual carbon fibre giving a very even distribution of the particles throughout the resin which results in rods with unparalleled smooth casting actions.
This technology is radically different to any previous nano rods using titanium nano or carbon nano tubes. These previous carbon nano technologies simply attempted to reinforce the carbon and not the all important resin. The bending strength of a SINTRIX fly rod is vastly improved over outdated common designs. Controlled testing has proven that SINTRIX fly rods are over 60% stronger and up to 30% lighter than previous carbon rods. A SINTRIX fly rod will bend further without damage and will also take incidental impacts far better than any conventional fly rod design.
At Hardy & Greys Ltd. it is believed that SINTRIX is THE new generation of carbon fibre technology and is the most significant breakthrough in rod development since the move from glass to carbon fibre twenty five years ago.
Hardy Sintrix - Hardy's New Technological Breakthrough
World famous fishing tackle manufacturer Hardy have always been at the forefront of fly rod design since their introduction of carbon fibre rod technology, Hardy's focus and passion for the development of new products has led to their latest exciting and innovative breakthrough that will change the fishing tackle world forever.
Hardy SINTRIX™ short for Silica Nano Matrix is an enhanced fortified matrix resin which supports and bolsters the carbon fibres in a fishing rod to withstand a far higher degree of bending and loading than ever before. The Hardy SINTRIX™ material enables the production of rods which are up to 60% stronger and 30% lighter than conventional carbon fibre whilst greatly improving impact resistance.
