Wayne,
My apologies for the delay in
writing this e-mail to you. It is long
overdue.
This is a formal request for a
stage 2 lesson in Fly Fishing…
Just over three years ago, my (at
the time) brand new lady friend bought me what has turned out to be one of my
all time best birthday gifts to receive. The gift was your Fly Fishing
“Boot Camp”. Not being originally from this area, I had done plenty of
fishing, but not with a fly rod. I had been musing to her about how much I
missed fishing, and that maybe some day I would attempt to figure out how you
really catch fish in Alberta.
Then I received this brand new
fishing rod with a card attached detailing that I was enrolled in the “Boot
Camp” – How neat! I took the course a few weeks later in September and
realized that this was absolutely a great way to fish. Your instruction
was great. The camp is an excellent format to take a beginner like me, and
ensure that we understand the basics on bugs, the principles of the tapered
line, and all the things that make fly fishing different (and frankly more
inspiring) than the ol’e line, lead jig, minnow routine I was used to from a
different part of the country. The enthusiasm you exude while you are at
it is great; I appreciated then, as I do now whenever I am in your fly
shop.
The flexibility this has brought me
is terrific. I live in downtown Calgary and can (and do) literally walk a few
blocks, spend some time by the river, and catch fish. In addition, I have
hooked up with some other folks, who enjoy it as well. There are really
some fantastic rivers in this part of the world, and now that I am set up, I can
essentially fish, whenever I want. Whether it is in Calgary or on my now
regular excursions out in the countryside, I have found a fantastic way to spend
some free time.
Please use this testimonial as you
see fit, but better yet, how about an intermediate course? I believe that
a “Boot Camp 2” is absolutely in order. Please put me in the database and
let me know. Perhaps we could discuss a one day camp for some good
customers of mine?
Oh yes, I am still with her.
No man would jeopardize a relationship with a woman that appreciates
fishing!

Dear Wayne & Trevor,
I just wanted to let you know that everyone at Williams
Energy really enjoyed the “Fly Fishing Boot Camp” that you organized for us
this summer. I am amazed how you can take a group of people, some who have
never fished before and by the end of the Boot Camp they look as if they grew
up fly fishing. Without doubt the Boot Camp was a great success.
Also, I want to thank you for introducing Michelle and me to
the sport of fly fishing. It is hard to imagine a pass time that is more
relaxing than fly fishing. As a result of now participating in three Boot Camps
over the past three years (I must be a slow learner) Michelle and I are now
avidly interested in both fresh and salt water fly fishing. You might say we
are hooked! Today we would not consider escaping for a warm weather vacation
without taking our salt water fly fishing gear along.
Thanks again,
Gord Dawson Williams Energy
