The Fairfield Rod Company
As a rodmaker, Roger Fairfield has been hand building fly fishing rods for over 35 years, his passion for split bamboo is very evident in the care, pride and quality he puts into every rod he makes. All of his rods are still in service today and have accounted for many beautiful trout and memories.
Specializing in semi-parabolic and moderate actions, most of the Fairfield rods are based on the Para 15, semi-parabolic taper developed by Paul Young. It is a wonderfully smooth, powerful, and easy to cast. The Fairfield moderate action taper is based on the work of Lyle Dickerson, and is characterised by the flex being in the top half of the rod. When casting with this rod, the caster can feel the rod load and unload, making line control simple.
