Loop to Loop Connections

Want to make changing your leaders as easy as 1-2-3? Then change to a loop system. By changing to this system you will save a lot of time, because we all know that the more time your line is in the water the more fish you will catch. You will be able to change your leaders in the dark, when it is cold and your fingers don't want to cooperate, when the fish are arisen and the blood is pumpin' and things aren't going fast enough! If you change your tactics to a loop system everything will happen smoothly. You can make you own braided loops, which are very easy to make, out of some braided butt material and a needle, or you can buy them at any good shop.

To set up the loop system, first place a loop on the end of your fly line and attach it with some shrink wrap and crazy glue. Second, pre-tie your leaders with a surgeons loop on the butt end, making sure not to waste too much of your leader. Thirdly, slip the leader loop over the fly line loop and thread the rest of the leader back through the fly line loop. Doing it in reverse will give you a kink in the connection and cause it to get caught in the guides when you are shooting the line.

This system will also work with bigger lines when you are looping in heavy sinking lines for a shooting head system. Once you switch to this system you will never look back.
